Motos › Custom and Racer Bikes //influencers and aesthetes

I'm still a little obsessed with Mac Motorcycles. I still haven't
found any reviews, or articles that capture the history of influences
that define the style and essence the brand embodies. But I have
managed to find a slew of bikes that share some of the same stylistic
qualities. I've found some amazing stuff from the 30's—your Norton,
AJS, Indian, and BMW. Also some really interesting and aesthete worthy
designs from the 40's—Triumph and BSA racing bikes. And some obscure
models, custom made bikes, along with cafe racers from the 50's &
60's. There are also some new custom bikes mixed in that are heavily
inspired by a few or all of these vintage bikes. Thanks
http://www.bikeexif.com/, and the users on ffffound.com, and a few
blogs for making all this inspiring stuff accessible. It's
surprisingly hard to find an amazing photo of a 70's Triton or Ducati
750SS ...

Keeping an eye on MAC moto design

http://www.mac-motorcycles.com/story.html

MAC Motorcycles is absolutely and without a doubt producing some of the coolest shit on the planet in terms of motorcycle design. Among the lackluster to ridiculous crotch-rockets, and mediocre 80-somethin' percent of everything else out there---the engineers at MAC are innovating along a thread of ideas that I am personally in love with. Think reinvention of the style and attitude of parts of the 13 Rebels Motorcycle Club, 50's Triumph Thunderbirds, cafe racers, and a culmination of American and UK custom bikes from the last 50yrs. Only a real bike enthusiast could thoroughly coalesce the disparate influences that play a role in defining their style. But as a visual designer, I can recognize that they've made a substantial contribution to the history of design in form and function outside of the mainstream but undeniably aligned with the influencers of our time.
